Read more of the storyThe MAKHLA is a stunning combination of handwoven natural bulrush and sturdy hammered iron. A perfect balance of strength and delicacy, it is at home in any room and will quickly take pride of place. A striking contrast of modernity and tradition, this piece will quickly become an essential.
In Morocco, from which the origins of the MAKHLA can be traced, woven bulrush trays play a central role in everyday life. The MAKHLA, a term that means ‘meal’ in Arabic, was so named because trays similar to these were traditionally used to serve hot dishes and tajines in Morocco. Made in Morocco, the natural colour variations of the bulrush range from beige to green, depending on the age of the bulrush and the amount of time that it was exposed to the sun.
Crafted from hammered iron, the fine and majestic lines of the foldable legs are completely modern.
