Read more of the storyKaty plaid is a distant descendant of Ikat. This is a craft technique. It involves first dyeing the weft thread. Then, as the weaving progresses, the design appears by juxtaposition.
The composition is then revealed, both light and vibrant. The irregularities of this totally hand-woven fabric amplify this vibration.
The Katy plaid is precious because it's made from noble materials: a radiant blend of silk and cotton. Voluptuous yet light, the Kati throw is ideal for mid-season.
Its colours blend delicately. A soft blend of :
- Indigo
- Golden brown
- Charcoal
- Ecru
The plaid is finished with light, delicate twisted fringes.
It's a job that takes time, passion and, above all, very special skills.
The Katy plaid is made in the eastern part of India, where tribal silk cocoon producers, threadmakers and weavers play a major role in sustainable production.
